A huge congratulations to Miss New York, Mallory Hytes Hagan for being crowned Miss America 2013! Mallory, who is 23 years old and lives in Brooklyn, NY, beat out 52 other contestants for the crown. What an honor!
As part of the Top 5, Mallory defeated Miss South Carolina, Ali Rogers, Miss Oklahoma, Alicia Clifton, Miss Wyoming, Lexie Madden, and Miss Iowa, Mariah Cary. She won a $50,000 college scholarship and the right to wear the crown for one year.
In Mallory’s official Miss New York 2012 biography, it says that she attends the Fashion Institute of Technology and plans to graduate with a degree in Advertising and Marketing. She plans to enter the field of cosmetic and fragrance marketing. Her ultimate career ambition is to become a global marketing director for a cosmetics company. With all the beautiful outfits she wore, we can definitely see that she belongs in the fashion industry. We especially loved the chandelier earrings she wore when she was named Miss America! White gowns are definitely a popular trend right now, so we loved that she was rocking the white, too!
Mallory did such an incredible job throughout the competition, from the Question and Answer portion, to the swimwear portion, to the talent portion. Check out some of the pictures of her from the competition below.
